WordPress Migration & Replatforming Services

Move WordPress between hosting providers, domains or environments with a plan for files, databases, URLs, integrations and release dependencies. We assess the source and target before recommending a migration sequence.

Data, environment and launch

Migration is a coordinated release, not just a file copy

Hosting, domain and CMS changes affect different layers. A safe plan accounts for database and media transfer, configuration, DNS and SSL, URL changes, external dependencies, validation and recovery options.

01

Hosting and server changes

Compare PHP, database, web server, storage and caching requirements across environments.

02

Domain and URL changes

Map important paths and prepare relevant redirects and canonical checks.

03

Staging to production

Plan configuration, content freeze, deployment sequence and environment-specific secrets.

04

Files, media and database

Transfer the required data and validate representative records and media references.

05

CMS-to-WordPress moves

Assess content mapping, attachments, users, URLs and functionality for an incoming replatform.

06

Launch and recovery planning

Coordinate DNS, SSL, backups, validation and rollback conditions with the people responsible.

Decisions and dependencies

Plan dependencies before setting a migration window

Downtime and data-loss risk depend on the source, write activity, DNS behavior, transfer strategy and recovery access. We identify the conditions and agree a release plan instead of promising zero downtime or zero data loss.

Assessment and quotation

We use discovery to confirm the current environment, access, dependencies, assumptions and acceptance criteria. The estimate reflects the agreed work and client responsibilities; cost and timing depend on the findings.

What we examine

  • 01Inventory files, databases, media, users, forms and scheduled jobs.
  • 02Check source and target PHP, database, web server and plugin compatibility.
  • 03Map changed URLs and redirects; verify canonicals and indexability after launch.
  • 04Define data freeze, DNS and SSL ownership, acceptance checks and rollback triggers.

A collaborative process

From source inventory to monitored cutover

The sequence is tailored to site size, data changes and whether the move also changes platform or domain.

  1. STEP 01

    Inventory

Collect source, access, data, integrations and URL requirements.

  2. STEP 02

    Prepare target

Configure a compatible destination and create a tested backup or staging copy.

  3. STEP 03

    Transfer and validate

Move files and data, then test representative content and critical journeys.

  4. STEP 04

    Cut over and monitor

Coordinate DNS and SSL changes, verify redirects and monitor the agreed checks.

Questions and answers

Questions about WordPress migration

What do you need to estimate a WordPress migration?

Useful inputs include the source platform and host, site and media size, access, plugins and licences, integrations, DNS ownership, target environment and any critical launch dates.

Can you migrate without downtime?

Downtime depends on the site’s write activity, transfer method, DNS, hosting and verification conditions. We can plan to reduce disruption, but cannot promise zero downtime without validating the full plan and constraints.

Will you preserve existing URLs?

We inventory important URLs, preserve paths where feasible, map changed URLs and test redirects and canonical behavior. Search performance cannot be guaranteed unchanged.

Can multisite or another CMS be moved?

It may be possible, but the site network, source data model, plugins and content mapping require a specific assessment.
